Scott grew up in Carlsbad, New Mexico, where he became New Mexico's first five-time wrestling State Champion. He earned his bachelors degree from Michigan State University in 2002 where he attended on a wrestling scholarship. In 2006, Scott earned his Juris doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School where he graduated cum laude. While in law school, Scott served as a law clerk with the Michigan Education Association, and he was named a “Top Ten” advocate during the Law School’s moot court competition for first-year law students. Since joining Butt Thornton & Baehr PC, Scott has authored or co-authored several articles and compendiums including an article for DRI Publications titled “For the Defense, Challenging Vicarious Liability: Accidents Occurring with Drivers Under the Influence,” and compendiums for ALFA International in the areas of transportation law, construction law, and labor and employment law. In 2009, Scott served as the Young Lawyers Division liaison for the State Bar’s litigation practice section. In his spare time, Scott enjoys spending time with his family, watching sports and participating in triathlons.
