Background:
Mr. Yarbrough first entered the legal field following the 1981 New Mexico prison riots when he worked as an investigator for a criminal defense attorney. Since becoming an attorney in 1988, Mr. Yarbrough has practiced exclusively at Butt Thornton & Baehr PC, where he maintains a full time litigation practice.
He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a Master Bencher with the American Inns of Court, National Coordinating Counsel for the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) and past Chairman of the Transportation Practice Group of ALFA International. He has been admitted pro hac vice in numerous states in connection with his motorsports work. He has spoken at numerous seminars on topics pertaining to his practice areas, and he has been listed in the Best Lawyers of America since 2007.
In 2011, Governor Susana Martinez appointed Mr. Yarbrough to the State Personnel Board, where he serves as Chairman. He is past Chairman of the Board of Consulters for Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese of Santa Fe and is a volunteer counselor for New Mexico Christian Legal Aid. He earned his Eagle Scout rank in 1980 and volunteered for the Boy Scouts of America while his sons were in Boy Scouts. Mr. Yarbrough served for four years on the Board of Directors for La Vida Llena Retirement Community. He interned for the United States Budget Committee in 1983 and maintains an interest in political issues. He enjoys speaking and writing on Church & State matters. He and his wife live and toil on their hobby farm in Corrales, and they have three sons.
